Alexandria University reviews specialized programs at Faculty of Engineering and the Medical Complex

The 2nd forum for new educational programs at Alexandria University continued its sessions 26th of April 2015 in the marketing day for the programs as there was a session to present the specialized programs of the Faculty of Engineering and the Medical Complex faculties in attendance of Prof. Dr. Roshdi Zahran, the rector in charge of Alexandria University and under chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Seddik Abdel Salam; vice president of the university for Graduate Studies and Research and Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowah; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. 

Dr. Seddik Abdel Salam during the session underlined the importance of new specialized programs in the preparation of the excellent graduates can compete in the labor market at both the local and international levels by linking these programs to labor market needs and community requirements in accordance with the regulations established by the world in this regard. He referred to the importance of creating such programs in conjunction with European universities and its positive impact on the quality of graduates and enhancing the international classification of our university.

The specialized programs officials in the medical complex and Faculty of Engineering delivered a presentation on the programs in these faculties indicating advantages, objectives, duration, and all information about each program.

The presented programs include two programs in the Faculty of Medicine, namely "Medicine and Surgery in French language" and program of "Medicine and Surgery in English" (international education), which will allow postgraduate studies in the next year. There is also one program at Faculty of Dentistry and (Oral Medicine and Surgery) with credit hours system. Another program at Faculty of Pharmacy is (Clinical Pharmacy Program) and one program at Faculty of Nursing aiming at graduating highly competent nursing staff to contribute to decrease the deficit in nursing in Alexandria.

There are also five distinguished programs at Faculty of Engineering including gas and petrochemicals engineering, electromagnetic engineering, architecture engineering, computers and communications engineering and maritime transportation engineering.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Konsowah; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering indicated that travel opportunities for students will be provided starting from next year for training and study in international universities ranging between three months and one year upon agreements with these universities.

Dr. Ahmed Osman; the Executive Director of Education Development Center in the Alexandria university stated that University Council has recently approved the establishment of marketing unit.

On the other hand, the participants called to expand in such programs while other participants suggested that each university should specialize in a particular product so that this would lead our universities to the international level and contribute to eliminating unemployment.

They also called to pay attention to improving the quality of traditional studies in parallel with the new programs to enhance the level of graduates.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammad Abdul Karim Abaza, University Vice President for Matrouh Branch in addition to former heads of the University.

Prof. Dr. Roshdi Zahran, the rector in charge of Alexandria University underlined university desire to open up to the outside world, especially in Arab and African countries through providing new educational programs to attract more students from these countries. He explained that students from 46 countries are enrolled in the first year at the university that can be considered as satisfactory representation of foreign countries in Alexandria University.

Dr. Zahran pointed out that the university seeks to double the number of foreign students enrolled in the university during the next two years as the current number is less than 4000 students in addition to students enrolled in the university branch in N'Djamena, Chad, and university branch of South Sudan where students started the study more than three years ago in Alexandria waiting for the start of the study in South Sudan next year.

Dr. Rushdi Zahran stated that the university seeks to intensify cooperation with European and US universities in student exchange programs to attract students from the United States and Europe to study for one or two semesters.

This came during the opening of "The 2nd exhibition and forum for new educational programs at Alexandria University, present and future" with attendance of ambassadors, consuls cultural attachés in Egypt and former presidents and deputies of the university deans,as well as faculty members and a lot Egyptian and foreign students studying in the university.

He called to pay attention to conduct agreements with international universities to grant joint degrees accredited by Alexandria University and international universities thus supporting the ongoing development of these programs.

The Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abaza, vice-president of university branch in Matrouh declared that the branch prepared to hold a forum for joint programs during the period from 13 to 15 of May 2015 in Marsa Matrouh, explaining that the branch has been always interesting in creating joint study programs in collaboration with scientific departments with a view to provide new pattern of education to meet community needs in Matrouh.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Osman, the Executive Director of Education Development Center in the university stated that the forum will include workshop faculty members and all parties involved in joint educational programs in the university under the title "vision for a better future of education" to indicate their importance among various disciplines, as well as to review local, regional and international experiences in this area with a view to adopt new joint study programs at the university to meet labor market needs and to define the obstacles facing the application of these programs.

Inauguration of the 13th artistic art gallery for university cities students

Prof. Dr. Roshdi Zahran, the rector in charge of Alexandria University inaugurated the 13th art gallery on Wednesday 22 April 2015, for university cities students in the presence of faculty members.


The General Manager of university cities; Mrs. Amal Fahmi, declared that the gallery was held for talent male and female students and contained paintings on the glass, wooden work, embroidering and portraits.

The art works was were judged and the first three places for each field were honored as following:

For glass works, the first place was awarded to Asmaa Noaman Abu Al-Nasr the student at Faculty of Specific Education while the second place was awarded to Doha Mohammed Refaie the student at Faculty of Kindergarten.

For oil graphic the first place was awarded to Radwa Amin Abdel Moneim and the second place was awarded to Noha AbdelRehim, students at Faculty of Fine Arts.

For Arabic calligraphy, the first place was awarded to Reem Said Hassan; the student at Faculty of Fine Arts while the second place was awarded to Asmaa Noaman Abu Al-Nasr the student at Faculty of Specific Education.

For handicrafts using environmental materials the first place was awarded to Maha Hasan Elmenoufy; the student at Faculty of Arts while the second place was awarded to Walaa Hasan Yousef; the student at Faculty of Law and the third place to Amira ElShamy; the student at Faculty of Specific Education.

For wooden works, the first place was awarded to Noura Mohamed and the second place to Asmaa Ramadan; the students at Faculty of Kindergarten and the third place to Asmaa Mohamed; the student at Faculty of Specific Education.

For pencil drawing, the first place was awarded to Karem Ahmed; the student at Faculty of Art while the second and third place was awarded to Mohamed Ismail and Ahmed Said; students at Faculty of Fine Arts.

Inauguration of the Twelfth Scientific Conference of the Egyptian Association for Bronchus Speculum

Dr. Roshdi Zahran; the rector in charge of Alexandria University and Dr. Ashraf Hatem secretary of the Supreme Council for Universities inaugurated the Twelfth Scientific Conference of the Egyptian Association for Bronchus Speculum on Thursday 23 April 2015. The conference is organized by the association in cooperation with Department of Thoracic Diseases in Egyptian universities under chairmanship of Dr. Esam Gouda, Professor of Thoracic Diseases at Alexandria University.

The conference was attended by Dr. Tarek Safwat, the President of the Assembly. The conference aims to focus on the importance of continues medical education for young doctors and improving the level of medical service.

The Conference included presentations on clinical cases such as asthmatic crisis, tissues inflammations and pectoral tumors. The conference also included discussions on the new asthmatic crisis with a participation of Egyptian universities, Ministry of Health, military forces, police and thoracic and allergy associations. 

Joint cooperation agreement between universities of Alexandria and Tnjksya in China

Alexandria University Council during its meeting held recently and headed by Dr. Roshdi Zahran, the university rector in charge approved a protocol of cooperation between Alexandria University (Faculty of Engineering) and Arab Association for Health and Safety Experts and Professionals (Qosh). The Council also approved the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and University of Tnjksya in China.
