Small hint on Faculty of Fine Arts’ History

  • the first school of High Fine Arts was Established in 1908 in Cairo.
    faculty of fine arts was established in Alexandria in 1957. Its first establisher Prof. Dr. / Ahmed Osman. One of the pioneers of contemporary sculpture and its first Dean
  • its study aims to prepare the faculty and graduate cadres specialized in the fields of Fine Art disciplines through the five departments in the faculty : (Architecture - Decoration - Printmaking - Photography - Sculpture).

In 1962 the first batch of students was graduated after obtaining a bachelor's degree in section of arts.
In 1964 the first batch of students was graduated after obtaining a bachelor's degree in architecture.
in 1975, Helwan University Was established, and included Faculty of Fine Arts.
a Presidential Decree No 361 was Issued in 1989 to include Faculty of Fine Arts to University of Alexandria

Faculty Objectives

Study in faculty of fine arts aims to develop and graduate specialists in the fields of Fine Arts: 
(Architecture - Decoration - Printmaking - Photography - Sculpture)

To allow communication between the artist's creative capabilities .. And the needs of society in various fields to establish the heritage values .. And consolidate the concept of civilization of the arts and raising the level of artistic taste Without the abandonment of the ancient roots of civilization

Study duration in faculty of fine arts

A study for taking bachelor's degree ... Five years including private preparatory year, in Architecture Department and preparatory year in decoration Department ... and preparatory year in Arts Department it qualifies to join the sections (Printmaking - Photography - Sculpture).

Which is the headquarters of the faculty and is located in the (108 Abdel Salam Aref Mazloum) and it included Dean’s Office , prof.dr./ vice dean for student’s affaires and Education office   , Prof. Dr. Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research office , administration departments, also includes Architecture Department and Sculpture Department.

    student‘s desire .

- examination performance of ending materials of the first semester at the end of the first semester
  According to the program timetable.

* Required for transferring student to the next year to be successful or transferred by one or two subjects

4 - The degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Arts in one of the previous specialties.

And calculated degrees of success in the decisions and the overall assessment of the Postgraduate Diploma and Pre-Master of Fine Arts, one of the following estimates:

Excellent     85% or more of the total grades

Very good       75% to less than 85% of the total grades
* Good from       65% to less than 75% of the total grades
* Acceptable     50% to less than 65% of the total grades

*Fail     in less than 50% of the total score

In all cases the student is awarded the degree does not exceed a reasonable estimate of 50%, while the failure of the decisions.

Rules and general observations

1 - Preparatory course duration in studying in architecture or decoration or general Arts:

The student may not stay preparatory division more than two years, according to the law of universities.

2 - Excuses:

If the student fails in entering exam with compelling reason excuse accepted by the faculty Board

3 - Stop limitation:

Faculty Council may stop enrollment for a period of two years of attendance during the years of
 study provided an acceptable excuse him from attendance.

4 - Conversion and transfer of limitation:

The student may be transferred between similar faculties if the student obtained a minimum
degrees which is accepted with the overall fulfillment of the performance test capabilities.
